March 3 — Punk rock super group Not is scheduled to release its debut album next month, and in anticipation, the group has premiered a new single from the forthcoming record.
The band, which is composed of members of Mercy Music and Sharp / Shock, is scheduled to release its debut album, Stop The World April 14 through Wiretap Records in the U.S., Brassneck Records in the UK and Waterslide Records in Japan. In anticipation of the album’s release, the band premiered a new single from the record Friday in the form of the song, ‘Alien.’ ‘Alien’ the album’s third single behind ‘Anxiety‘ most recently and the album’s title track.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Alien’ easily comparable to work from the band members’ primary group, as well as to work from the likes of MXPX and The Descendants. That is evidenced through its poppy approach and sound and the balance in its bass, guitars, and vocals.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the album and single’s release. In listening through the song, it sounds like the song centers, lyrically, on someone dealing with a number of personal issues. That is just this critic’s interpretation.
