May 1 — Anthrax is back in the studio, working on its new album.

The band offered a brief status update on where things stand with its new album Monday. According to a news release distributed Monday, band members Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), and Frank Bello (bass) have been working with producer Jay Ruston, laying instrumental tracks for the new album, whose details are all under consideration.

The group’s work is in preparation for front man Joey Belladonna and fellow guitarist Jonathan Donais to add their parts to the songs.

When it is released, Anthrax’s new album will be the band’s 12th album and its first since the release of the band’s 106 album, For All Kings. The band released its latest live recording, Anthrax XL in July 2022.
