July 7 — Dirty Honey is giving audiences their first preview of the band’s new album.
The preview comes in the form of the band’s new single, ‘Won’t Take Me Alive‘. The band premiered the new single Friday. The song is featured in the band’s forthcoming album, Can’t Find The Brakes. The record’s release date is under consideration.
Produced by Nick Didia (Rage Against The Machine, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam), the song boasts an up-tempo, blues-based arrangement that will immediately have audiences dancing along.
Guitarist John Notto discussed the song’s arrangement during a recent interview.
“‘Won’t Take Me Alive’ was an instrumental idea I demoed on bass, drums, and guitar at my home studio,” Notto said. “I brought it to the band, we wrote a new chorus, and it was basically finished that quickly. Nick [DiDia] rented some vintage amps and really helped me get the raunchy sound and attitude I wanted for the riff.”
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the song’s premiere. In listening to the song it simply comes across as a familiar, fully defiant rock anthem that finds its subject refusing to just give up on life and determined to make the most of everything. That is just this critic’s own interpretation.
In other news, Dirty Honey’s members recently announced the group is planning to launch a new world tour in September. The first leg of the tour — a North American run — will see the band serving as support for Guns N’ Roses. From there, the band will launch the headlining portion of its tour from October to December.
