Anthrax Celebrating Its 40th Anniversary With New Bourbon Line

Aug. 26 — Anthrax is launching another new alcohol line.

The band announced Thursday, the release of its new “high-end spirit,” Anthrax XL. The XL are the Roman numerals for the number 40, an indicator of the band’s 40th anniversary. The new drink is a Solera-aged, single-barrel bourbon finished for 40 days in a 20 year-old Oloroso cask.

Only one barrel of the new bourbon has been produced. That is enough for 400 hand-numbered battles at a cask strength of 115 proof. The band members’ signatures adorn each bottle and is presented in a black, velvet, drawstring gift bag.

the suggested retail price for the bottles is $155. Additionally, 40 limited edition numbered bottles will be made available, each retailing at a price of $350. The limited edition bottles are themselves held in the noted drawstring bags. Those bags are then placed inside a customized box wrapped in a SilverFoil card stock wrap around.

A golden ticket awarding the owners of the limited edition bottles with admission to one of Anthrax’s concerts in their given region during the band’s 2022 U.S. Tour, is also enclosed in the noted boxes. Additionally, the golden tickets give their owners access to an exclusive meet and greet with the band ahead of those concerts.

Audiences can purchase the bottles of the band’s new limited bourbon line here.

The debut of Anthrax’s new bourbon line is just the latest of its ventures into the world of high-end spirits. The band launched two whiskey lines — “Evil Twin I” and “Evil Twin II” — last year. Those whiskey lines and the band’s latest bourbon line, were all crafted by Hillrock Estate Distillery, which is located in the Hudson Valley Highlands in New York state.
