Bandaid Brigade Takes On Classic TV Series’ Theme Song For Its New Single

Aug. 17 — Independent rock band Bandaid Brigade is spoofing a classic TV series’ theme song for its latest project.

The band — Zach Quinn (PEARS), Brian Wahlstrom (Scorpios, Gods of Mount Olympus), Paul Rucker (Armchair Martian, Street Dogs, Drag The River), and Brendan Miller — debuted its satirical cover of the Baywatch theme song, ‘I’ll Always Be Here’ Tuesday. The band’s take stays true to the original to a point, but adds its own comical take on the song — originally written by Jimi Jamison — complete with over the top vocals, drums, and even piano line.

The song’s premiere was accompanied by the premiere of an equally satirical video. The video puts the band into the roles of the show’s lifeguards to an even more comical effect. At the same time, the video also features the band rehearsing the song and recreating it to its own laughs.

Wahlstrom discussed the creation of the band’s cover of the song and its video in a prepared statement.

“It was the morning of July 4th,” he said. “After extinguishing the remaining box of Franzia, Paul Rucker flipped on the TV to get everyone in the mood for our first day of band practice in over 18 months. Within minutes, we were all on the couch entranced with the pilot episode of Baywatch. After watching two seasons and an episode of the acclaimed Baywatch Nights, we finally made our way to the rehearsal space. As we were setting up, we had a long discussion about what would be the best use of our time since all of us live in entirely different parts of the country and we only had one day to practice.”

“The unanimous decision was to forget about our set and track the song that we had been singing together earlier that morning,” added Wahlstrom. “It just so happens, our close friend Tim had a full sound and video production setup in his car from an event the night before. It became clear that our day was to be spent making this video. We hope you enjoy this trifle of a piece!”

Bandaid Brigade released its debut album, I’m Separate in January 2020 through One Week Records.
