The band premiered its single, ‘Everybody Knows‘ and its video Aug. 2. The single is a light indie rock style composition with influence clearly from Modest Mouse, but also slightly from Dire Straits believe it or not. That is just this critic’s interpretation.
According to a statement from the duo — Stewart Crichton and Blake Baldwin — the song;s lyrical theme takes on the matter of dysfunction.
“When it comes down to it, this song is sort of about a dysfunctional relationship, whether that be with yourself, someone else, or a substance,” the statement reads. “A lot of our songs deal with substances but this one calls that out in a more direct way.”
The video that accompanies the song is a “live” in-studio from the duo and its companion musicians. Recorded at Total Access Recording, it uses a variety of camera angels is used to fully capture the performance and keep audiences engaged and entertained.
In other news, Hand Drawn Maps is scheduled to perform live at the Brouweri West ‘Sunday Brunch and Brands’ show at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 29.
