Aug. 20 — The Cocktail Slippers debuted its latest single this week.
The band’s new single is a stark contrast musically and lyrically to that of ‘Be The One,’ which is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album, Shout It Out Loud. The band’s first new album in 20 years, it is scheduled for release Sept. 17 through Wicked Cool Records. The difference is noted in part through the song’s musical arrangement. Where ‘Be The One’ is a fun, upbeat song, this composition is more contemplative and airy. There is much more emotional depth to this song’s arrangement than in ‘Be The One.’
The song’s lyrical theme is just as different from that of ‘Be The One.’ In this case, the song is a tribute to the band members’ daughters, according to information provided about the song. The band said of the song that it is “An ode to our daughters. It’s about growing up, growing older and passing on generations. The vocal was recorded only a few weeks before Hope’s daughter Fay entered the world!”
The band premiered the song’s companion lyric video Friday. The video features the song’s lyrics over various nature scenes, such as a pond, a waterfall, and a field of grass.
