June 3 — The Lucid debuted the video for its latest single to open the weekend.
The band premiered the video for its single, ‘Maskronaut’ Friday. The song is the fourth from the band’s self-titled debut record, which was released in October. The album has also produced the singles, ‘Hair,‘ ‘Deaths of Despair,‘ and ‘Maggot Wind.’
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Maskronaut’ is a gentle, flowing composition. The use of the string arrangement alongside the sounds of the song’s primary instrumentation and vocals serves well to bring out the best of the song’s deep emotion in its alt-rock approach and sound.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing its premiere. The lyrics provided with the song’s video hint at the song being somewhat multi-purpose. It could be a love song for some. For others it could be a song simply about one person expressing his or her appreciation for that other person. Either way, the positive, uplifting lyrics here are certain to engage and entertain audiences.
The video for ‘Maskronaut’ is a unique way to illustrate the song’s message. It features two people in astronaut suits going around amid large crowds of people. These two people are the only ones wearing the suits, standing out against everyone else. Meanwhile, footage of military people being united and reunited with their families is mixed in randomly. The astronaut couple eventually take off their helmets at the end and embrace. The duality there really does help express the duality in the song’s lyrics, again how they really could be used in either noted situation. To that end, the video is a unique presentation.
In related news, the band has set up a GoFundMe page to help guitarist Dave Fortier pay for the costs of surgery that followed a recent testicular cancer diagnosis. Fortier is recovering from his surgery. Donations can be made to the GoFundMe account here.
