Feb. 13 — Independent pop punk outfit Wicked Bears is scheduled to release its new album, Underwater next month through Wiretap Records, and in anticipation of its release, recently premiered the album’s lead single alongside the song’s companion lyric video.
The band premiered its new single, ‘Hypothetically‘ and its lyric video Feb. 11. The song’s musical arrangement is everything that audiences know as familiar from the pop punk sounds of the 90s. The lyrical theme that accompanies that musical content is simple in its own right while also being slightly complicated, according to a statement from the band.
“‘Hypothetically’ is not a love song. It is about the perils of love and the hope of love, but it’s not a love song,” the statement reads. “If, hypothetically, ‘Hypothetically’ were a love song, it would probably closely resemble this song, but again, it’s not. If ‘Hypothetically’ were a love song, it would be complicated like love, and moody and sentimental like love, which it is. But it’s not a love song, so don’t even think about it!”
The lyric video for ‘Hypothetically features the song’s lyrics presented over the visualization of a couple ice skating on a rink in what is meant to be a romantic nighttime setting.
