March 24 — Independent hard rock band Defiant premiered its latest single and video this weekend.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Ignite The Sky‘ and the song’s video Friday. The song features a high-energy musical arrangement whose driving guitar riffs and time keeping pair with its forceful vocal delivery and rich bass line to make the whole an instantly engaging and entertaining composition.
According to a statement from the band, the song’s lyrical theme is a commentary about the impact of mankind’s development of nuclear force for military purposes.
“Fat Man, Little Boy, Nukes, The Atomic Bomb. On July 16,1945 humanity had to ask themselves whether their scientific curiosity had gone beyond that of man, and transcend into an apocalyptic cataclysm of hellfire,” the statement reads. “Defiant’s newest single brings forward a harrowing perspective of man’s most powerful weapon, and it’s involuntary desire to lay waste to all it’s nuclear hands touched. The aggressive vocals and hard pounding groove of “Ignite The Sky” brings the essential punk onslaught Defiant is more than happy to give to your precious ears. For a hundred minds and a thousand hours gave God’s power to human hands.”
The single’s video is a familiar style presentation. It features the band performing its single in and empty warehouse setting. A variety of video effects is used to enhance the visualization. At points throughout the video, vintage footage from the Cold War, such as students being taught what to do in case of a bomb’s explosion, testing of nuclear weapons, and the explosion of the atom bomb are incorporated to help translate the song’s message.
In related news, Defiant is expected to release its latest EP this year. Its release date is under consideration. It is unknown at this time if the band’s new single will be included in the record as no track listing for the EP was provided in the news release announcing the debut of the new single and video.
