The Van Pelt Debuts ‘Grid’ Video

March 15 — Independent rock band The Van Pelt continued building anticipation for the release of its new album, Artisans & Merchants, with the premiere of the video for the album’s latest single.

The band premiered the video for its new single, ‘Grid‘ Wednesday. Directed by Mark Nardelli, of 5Boro, the video features well-known skateboarder Keith Hardy making his way through what looks to be New York City on his skateboard as the band’s new single plays over the visualization.

The video’s premiere came less than a week after the band debuted the single by itself. The song is the third single from the band’s new album, which is scheduled for release Friday through Spartan Records. The record will release through Spartan Records in the U.S., Gringo in the UK and through La Castanya in Europe and other territories globally.

The record also produced the singles, ‘Image of Health‘ and ‘Punk House.’

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Grid’ stands out apart from its counterparts in that it is more of a post punk style composition. There is also a touch of garage punk incorporated into the arrangement. By comparison, ‘Image of Health’ walks the line of being more emo and ‘Punk House’ exhibits something more of a shoegazer style sound and style. The only thing that remains the same here from the other songs is the spoken word style vocal delivery. That is a standard in the other singles, just as much as it is here.

According to front man Chris Leo, the lyrical content featured in the band’s new single tells the story of a man who is looking for his lost wallet.

Artisans & Merchants will be The Van Pelt’s first new album in 25 years upon its release. The rest of the band’s catalog is available to hear here. The album’s track listing is noted below:
