April 26 — Punk rock outfit Grave Secrets recently joined the Wiretap Records artist roster.
The announcement was made Wednesday through a news release from the label. Details of the deal were not announced. The band’s addition to the label makes it a label mate to the likes of Catholic Guilt, American Thrills, and Mercy Music.
The band is now working on what will be its first album with the label. The record is expected for release later this year, according to the news release. As audiences await the album’s release, they can take in the band’s new single, ‘Anxious‘ and its companion video now, which the band premiered Tuesday.
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is an infectious melodic pop punk composition that is easily likened to the works of so many other pop punk acts. The band in whole drives the arrangement, with the vocals, guitar, bass and drums getting equal attention throughout the song.
Front man Viny Morales talked about the song’s lyrical theme and musical content in a prepared statement.
“”Anxious” is about the feelings we all face from time to time, and more specifically, something I wrote as a testament of how I’ve felt ever since I can remember,” Morales said. “I found nicotine (unfortunately) at a pretty young age, and bite my nails like a weirdo quite often. So that’s where the lyrics came from. As for the music, we were thinkin’ “Fast. Fun. Heavy as f*”. “
The feelings in question would seem to be those of feeling trapped and confused, trying to break out of the mindset created through those feelings. The video seems to hint at this as it finds Morales using an axe to try to break out of a large box. That is just this critic’s interpretation.
