May 25 — Metalcore band blessthefall premiered its first new music in give years this week.

The music came in the form of the band’s new single, ‘Wake The Dead‘ Wednesday. The band also unveiled a video to go with the single. The musical arrangement featured in the new single is a heavy, driving composition that is everything audiences came to expect from the band throughout its catalog while still establishing an identity all its own separate from the band’s existing work. At the same time, the intensity expressed through the screams, clean vocals, guitars and rhythm section make the arrangement easily comparable to works from fellow metalcore acts, such as Wage War, As I Lay Dying, and Memphis May Fire.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the debut of the new single and video. The lyrics provided with the song’s video leave themselves up to interpretation. The chorus hints at someone addressing someone who was quite toxic. This is increasingly inferred in the chorus’ refrain, which makes a statement about someone dragging the subject through the flames and drowning the person in waves with only the result of the subject persevering. It all definitely leaves the lyrics to interpretation without exact explanation.

The video for the new single is a familiar style presentation. The band performs its new single on a sound stage dressed to look like the band is on stage as the song plays over the visualization.

Speaking of the band performing live, the band has also announced a new tour in support of its 2013 album, Hollow Bodies. The tour is scheduled to launch Aug. 3 in Santa Ana, CA and to run through Sept. 7 in Alton, VA at this year’s annual Blue Ridge Rock Festival.

Front man Beau Boken said the band is anticipating getting on the road and performing Hollow Bodies in its entirety for fans this summer.

Hollow Bodies was the album that took our band to the next level and for that we are forever grateful,” Boken said. “Being able to do a 10-year anniversary tour and play the record in its entirety is going to be incredibly special. It’s been four years since we played a live show and want to pick up right where we left off. We can’t wait to see your sweaty faces in the crowd!”

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the album’s release. the record peaked at #15 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, #3 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, #2 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart and #1 on Billboard’s Top Hard Rock Albums chart.

The album produced the singles, ‘You Wear a Crown But You’re No King,’ ‘Deja Vu‘ and ‘See You On The Outside.’
