May 26 — Melodic death metal band Rise To Fall is giving audiences another preview of its new album, The Fifth Dimension.
The band premiered the album’s third single, ‘Heroes‘ and its companion video Friday. The premieres follow those of the album’s first two singles, ‘Hierophant‘ and ‘Intruder.’ The Fifth Dimension is scheduled for release June 9 through Noble Demon.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Heroes’ is a stark change of sound and style from its predecessors. Instead of the Soilwork-influenced style sound and style of those songs’ arrangements, this song’s arrangement is more along the lines of songs from Breaking Benjamin at points and like the melodic metal compositions that Machine Head has crafted in the past year or so at others. Front man Alain Gutierrez’s vocal delivery sound and style here is even nearly identical to that of Machine Head front man Robby Flynn. On a side note, he even looks like Flynn in the song’s companion video.
Guitarist Hugo Markaida talked about the song’s arrangement in a prepared statement.
“The third single is a very melodic theme, in which both the clean vocal melodies and the melodic guitars are being prioritized,” Markaida said. “It is a slower song than the previous singles, but full of energy with a very catchy chorus. But all this melody and harmony explodes with the break, a very frenetic and heavy break that ends with harmonized guitars that will not leave anyone indifferent. It may be our favorite chorus.”
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the premiere of the new song and its video. Lyrics were not provided with the video, either.
The third chapter in an ongoing story from Rise To Fall, the new video picks up where the video for ‘Hierophant’ left off. The “intruder” wakes up in a snowy mountain range after escaping a group of armed men pursuing him in the previous single’s video. The masked man makes his way through the near white-out conditions and eventually reaches a peak where he places the item he originally took from the mansion in the first single’s video.
When the man inserts the small item into the mountainside, a beam of light shoots into the sky and up into space. When this happens, a group of unidentified, hooded figures appears. The unidentified figures cast some sort of spell, causing even more beams to shoot into the sky, leaving the story open-ended as the song fades out, leaving audiences to wonder if another single will come along, and if so where the story will take viewers.
