June 5 — Independent rock band Colossal Street Jam recently premiered its latest single and video.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Seconds’ through Rock at Night May 31. The band followed up its release with the debut of the song’s companion video Friday. The song is the second single from the band’s recently released album, No Way To Live behind the record’s title track and album opener.
The musical arrangement featured in Colossal Street Jam’s new single is a slight departure from its predecessor, which the band debuted two years ago. Where that single features apparent influence from Deep Purple and even Stevie Ray Vaughan, the band’s latest offering single also bears influence from Deep Purple, and also from Heaven & Earth in place of SRV.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the premiere of the single and its video. Lyrics were not provided with the song’s video, either. In listening to the song’s lyrics, they come across as addressing the familiar the familiar theme of mental health and dealing with its associated struggles. That is just this critic’s interpretation.
The video for the band’s new single seems to hint just as much at that seeming theme. That is proven as it tells the story of a woman who tries to overdose on prescription pills but ultimately spits them out at the last second. The video closes with a message of support for those who are suffering from mental health struggles.
