June 20 — The Windy City will welcome metal and hard rock fans to a new festival this fall.
“Heavy Chicago” is scheduled to take place over the course of two weekends, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4-5 at the Avondale Music Hall in Chicago, IL. Corrosion of Conformity will headline the festival. Also joining the lineup for the inaugural festival will be the likes of Nebula, Acid King, and Repulsion.
Tickets are available here. A limited number of three-day passes is available at a price of $100. Two-day passes for Nov. 4-5 are available at a price of $80 and “single-day”24-hour only” passes for Oct. 28 and separately Nov. 4 for a price of $$70. Single-day passes for each day will be available soon.
The inaugural Heavy Fest is made possible through a partnership between Live Wire, Kuma’s and Pabst Blue Ribbon, all in association with Last Rites.
Last Rites founder Sean Duffy discussed the festival in a prepared statement.
“We are so excited to be partnering with Live Wire, Kuma’s and Pabst Blue Ribbon to bring a brand-new metal festival to Chicago, hosted in the city’s newest music venue, Avondale Music Hall, which even Time Out says is located in one of the buzziest neighborhoods in the world,” Duffy said. “Three shows over two weekends will bring some of the heaviest music the Northside has seen, including Trouble’s first Chicago show in over five years, Acid King, Corrosion of Conformity, DRI on their 40th anniversary tour for Crossover and the ONLY show in 2023 for Repulsion. We wanted to make sure to bring out as many metalheads as possible and have kept the prices super affordable with three-day tickets starting at $100 (that’s just $33.33 a day). We look forward to seeing everyone in the inaugural year in what we hope is an annual event.”
