June 22 — Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons will tentatively release its latest album later this year.

Kings of the Asylum is scheduled for release Sept. 1 through Nuclear Blast Records. It will come less than three years after the release of the band’s sophomore album, We’re The Bastards, which the band released in November 2020 through Nuclear Blast Records.

In anticipation of the mew album’s pending release, the band premiered the video for the album’s lead single, ‘Schizophrenia‘ Thursday. No information was provided about the video’s treatment, but the initial exterior shot and the interior presents the image that it is meant to take place in an asylum. leading the sound stage setting to be dressed in such fashion as the band performs its new single in the noted setting.

The song’s musical arrangement proves familiar for the band’s established audiences. It is a driving, up-beat blues-based rock composition that also exhibits elements of the sleaze rock of the late 80s and very early 90s. It is certain to be a fan favorite on record and in a live setting.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the video’s premiere. In reading through the song’s lyrics — through genius.com — the theme seems to be in fact, pointed at someone who is battling schizophrenia. If that is in fact the case, then the energy and mood set through the song’s musical arrangement makes all the more sense.

In other news, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons also announced it is scheduled to launch a European tour in support of its new album Sept. 19 in Brighton, UK. The tour is scheduled to run through Dec. 2 in Birmingham, UK. It includes stops in cities, such as Hamburg, Germany; Santanyi (Mallorca), Spain and Lublin, Poland.
