June 30 — Punk rock outfit Grave Secret debuted another preview of its forthcoming, as yet untitled album this week.
The band, which recently announced a new record deal with Wiretap Records, premiered its new single, ‘Mood Ring‘ and the song’s video Friday. The song is the second from the band’s album, which is expected for release later this year. Its exact release date is under consideration.
Front man Vinny Morales talked about the song’s musical arrangement in a prepared statement.
“The early version was simple,” Morales said. “Brought it to Alex Estrada at Pale Moon Ranch, and that’s when it really took its form. Not gonna lie, the intro sounded way too much like Catalina Fight Song by JM at first, so we re-worked the drums and came up with what you hear now. Big shout out to Alex on this one, the intro was definitely a hurdle we crossed thanks to him.”
According to Morales, the song’s lyrical content was the result of a real li esituation.
‘Mood Ring’ is a song I actually wrote about my girlfriend,” Morales said. “She was expressing to me how she feels sometimes, and no joke – after we were done talking, I picked up my acoustic guitar and wrote the whole song in like 10 mins.”
In talking about the song’s video, Morales said the shoot that resulted in the video was a last-minute event. He said the band was pleased with the turnout for the live shoot even despite the last minute notice for fans to take part.
Grave Secrets premiered the album’s lead single, ‘Anxious,‘ and its companion video in April.
