July 5 — Silent Skies, the side project of Evergrey front man Tom S. Englund and pianist/composer Vikram Shankar (who are also members of the prog-metal band Redemption), will tentatively release its new album, Dormant, Sept. 1 through Napalm Records.

In anticipation of the record’s release, the duo unveiled the video for the album’s lead single, ‘Construct‘, Wednesday. The song’s musical arrangement is a moving composition that is a far cry from what either man has crafted as part of his respective work together or with his own acts. There is a certain warmth to the song and richness in the keyboard-driven work. The keyboard line at the song’s base conjures thoughts (at least to this critic) of the electronic sounds that Daft Punk crafted for the soundtrack to Disney’s TronLegacy movie, just with vocals in this case.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the premiere of the new video. Lyrics were not provided with the video, either.

While ‘Construct’ is the lead single from Silent Skies’ new album, it is just the latest release from the band. The act debuted its take of Linkin Park’s hit single, ‘Numb‘, in April, along with the song’s companion visualizer. The song is featured in the duo’s most recent studio recording, Nectar.

Nectar was released in 2022. It was preceded by the duo’s debut album, Satellites in 2020. More information on Silent Skies’ new video, single and album is available along with all of the pair’s latest news at:
