July 14 — Independent rock band Sisters kicked off the weekend with the premiere of its latest single.

The band debuted its new single, ‘Through The Cracks‘ Friday. The song is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album, Leecheater, which is scheduled for release Aug. 25 through Spartan Records. The band premiered the album’s lead single, ‘Born Again‘ last month.

The band’s new single is a full-on stoner rock style composition that is a stylistic departure from the album’s lead single. Instead of the post-grunge style sound and style of that song’s arrangement — easily likened to works from the likes of Deftones, and Hum and Failure — this song is more comparable to works of Royal Blood, Queens of the Stone Age, and other similar style stoner rock acts.

Jason Blackmore, who is one half of the duo, said of the song’s arrangement, the song almost did not happen.

“’Through The Cracks’ was actually a last minute song. I came up with the riffs for the song the morning of the day before I was flying home from our second recording session,” Blackmore said. “[Band mate] Mario [Quintero] had come down to the studio that morning and I showed him the riffs. While he went upstairs to get coffee, I threw together the structure and then we just recorded it. I walked around the block to come up with the verse lyrics and melodies. We recorded my vocals after we recorded the music and while I was doing my vocals Mario came up with the chorus lyrics and melody. We slapped some vocals on the bridge and did a couple guitar overdubs and voila.”

Blackmore said of the song’s lyrical theme, “Basically it’s a song about a person having a midlife crisis. Or that’s how I perceive it at least.”
