July 14 — Soraia premiered its latest single and video over the weekend.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Wretch Like Me‘ and its companion lyric video Friday. The premiere of the new single and its video came more than a month after the band premiered its then latest single, ‘Every Motion‘ and its companion lyric video.
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s latest single continues to show the influence of Joan Jett and the Black Hearts, whose name sake vocalist has called Soraia, “an extraordinary, exciting, and sure to make waves band who I love and admire.” At the same time, the song’s arrangement also boasts its own unique identity in its garage rock approach.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the premiere of the new song and video. The lyrics provided in the song’s lyric video hint at the theme being a commentary about the hypocrisy of the religious institutions of the world and of fake people in general. That is just this critic’s own interpretation.
The lyric video in question presents the song’s lyrics over a backdrop of what looks like flowing liquid on a brown color filter. The lyrics are presented in a font that is meant to look like they were scribbled by hand in pencil.
Audiences can hear the band’s new single and other recently released singles during its performances in its current tour, which launched July 1 in Garwood, NJ. The tour’s next scheduled stop is July 16 in Los Angeles, CA.
