July 14 — Punk rock outfit Spoilers previewed its new EP, There or Thereabouts, with another new single this week.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Skip To The End‘ Friday. The song is the second single from the forthcoming EP, which is now scheduled for release Aug. 11 through SBAM Records. The band premiered the record’s lead single, ‘Peaches & Cream‘ and the song’s video in late May.
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is easily comparable in its sound and style to works from many of the group’s pop punk counterparts while also exhibiting comparison to works from the likes of Rancid along with those acts’ works.
A statement from the band had the following to say of the song’s lyrical theme:
“I don’t have live TV at home. I Can’t. I can literally watch anything. Even if it’s terrible if I start watching it and even if it is three hours long I’ll sit there and watch as I need to know exactly what happens and how it ends. So skip to the end is about not wasting time and hoping for a more exciting ending. I could watch paint dry hoping that at some point it’ll change colour is basically the point.”
The news release announcing the new single’s premiere does not credit which band member made the statement.
In other news, Spoilers is in the midst of a series of live dates in support of its new EP. The tour is scheduled to run through Dec. 22 in Peterborough, UK.
