Sept. 1 — Independent hard rock band Sekond Skyn unveiled another preview of its forthcoming album, Letting Go Friday.
The preview came in the form of the album’s latest single, ‘Wounds‘ and the song’s companion video. The song is the album’s third single behind ‘Small‘, which the band debuted in July, and ‘My Head,‘ which the band unveiled in June.
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s latest single is a heavy, crunching work that immediately lends itself to some of the best works of Pantera. The comparison comes through the pairing of the intense guitar line and equally powerful vocals.
The song’s lyrical theme centers on the all-too-familiar topic of a relationship that does not work, according to front man Jesse Shar.
“‘Wounds’ is about love and the pain it causes when it ends,” Shar said. “In my case, it was in high school, when I was dating a girl whose family didn’t approve of us. She was a Catholic school girl and I was a long-haired headbanger.”
The video for the band’s new single is a familiar style presentation. It features the band in a darkened sound stage, performing the song with various video effects as the song plays over the visualization.
