Hannah Ellis Announces Debut Album Details; Debuts Album’s Lead Single, Video

-

Nov. 24 — Fledgling singer Hannah Ellis is set to open the new year with the release of her debut album.

The record, That Girl, is scheduled for release Jan. 12 through Curb Records. In anticipation of its release, the up-and-coming singer premiered the record’s lead single, ‘Too Much and Not Enough‘ and its companion video early this month.

The song’s musical arrangement is a relatively simply presentation. It features Ellis presenting her vocal talents alongside the song’s instrumentation of a guitar and bass. Some minor electronics are added in to enhance the arrangement’s impact. The whole is sure to appeal to most modern country fans, especially those of the likes of Miranda Lambert.

The somber mood set through the song’s musical arrangement works well to help illustrate the message in the song’s lyrical theme. According to information provided in the news release announcing the details of Ellis’ new music, the song’s lyrical theme centers on the matter of society’s mixed expectations of women. The statement notes the song’s theme centers on the “fine line women walk, never fully able to strike a balance between being themselves and living up to culture’s unrealistic expectations.”

To that end, one could just as easily see the song being accompanied by a much more energetic musical backing. Though, the mood set here works just as well, as it paints the picture of a woman who is just emotionally frustrated and sad about being torn between that rock and a hard place.

The track listing for Ellis’ debut album is noted below:
