Dec. 6 — Two years ago, KK’s Priest brought audiences the story of an interstellar warrior come to Earth as an unsuspecting hero in its single, ‘Return of the Sentinel.’
The story of that warrior continued recently when the band released the video for its latest single, ‘Sons of the Sentinel.’ The song — a sequel of sorts to ‘Return of the Sentinel — is the latest single produced from the band’s recently released album, The Sinner Rides Again, which was released this past September.
The video for the band’s new single follows closely along the lines of its predecessor. It tells the story of a group of mechanical warriors finishing what was started in the video for ‘Return of the Sentinel,’ avenging the death of the Sentinel. Meanwhile the band performs its new single on a sound stage in front of a screen depicting a post apocalyptic world left by the battles that waged through the years between the singles’ releases.
Band founder and namesake K.K Downing talked about the video in a prepared statement.
“Following the epic ‘Return Of The Sentinel’, it was inevitable that this sequel would evolve,” Downing said. “The history of these intergalactic mercenaries has to justifiably continue as long as there is metal in our veins.
Downing added, “It was with great sorrow that our first great father, and warlord, met his demise upon his return, but the powers of those that would be have initiated an even more powerful force to be the protectors of the entire universe. Though – heed the warning – you must always beware to never stand in their way because they are a force that are like no other and have never been seen before! They are The ‘Sons Of The Sentinel’.”
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Sons of the Sentinel’ is very much in the same vein as that of ‘Return of the Sentinel,’ offering audiences all of the power metal glory of that song. Once again, the blend of front man Tim “Ripper” Owens’ powerhouse operatic vocals and the overall instrumentation makes it easily comparable to works from the likes of Saxon, Iron Maiden and none other than Judas Priest.
‘Sons of the Sentinel’ is just the latest single to come from The Sinner Rides Again. The band most recently dropped the single, ‘Hymn 66‘ and its companion video in September. The album has also produced the singles, ‘Strike of the Viper,‘ ‘Reap The Whirlwind,‘ and ‘One More Shot at Glory‘.
In other news, KK’s Priest is scheduled to take part in the annual Monsters of Rock cruise March 2-7, 2024. Also scheduled for the now sold out cruise are the likes of Joe Satriani, fellow power metal outfit Accept, and Armored Saint. Information on the cruise is available here.
