KK’s Priest Debuts Video For New Album’s Sixth Single

NewsKK’s Priest Debuts Video For New Album’s Sixth Single

March 6 — KK’s Priest premiered the video for its latest single this week.

The band unveiled the video for its new single, ‘Keeper of the Graves‘ Wednesday. The song and its video are the sixth from the band’s latest album, The Sinner Rides Again, which was released this past September. Most recently, the album produced the single, ‘Sons of the Sentinel. Its premiere was preceded by those of the album’s four other singles, ‘Hymn 66,‘ ‘Strike of the Viper,‘ ‘Reap The Whirlwind,‘ and ‘One More Shot at Glory.‘

The video features a hooded, Grim Reaper-esque figure walking among graves as the moon shines amid clouds above and rain falls. Evil beings trying to capture the dead who rise from the graves that the “Keeper” watches, but it protects the deceased in the CG presentation as the new song plays over the visualization.

Band namesake and founder K.K. Downing discussed the song’s video and how it is tied in to the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

“The Keeper of The Graves is the defender, the sentinel and the protector of all of the dead,” Downing said. “This ageless being, throughout many centuries, has fought many battles with marauders that seek to prey on the souls of the buried and entombed. But alas, it would be inevitable that one day the kiss of Judas would land on his lips and the cold steel of the evil ones would thrust forward and penetrate the heart drawing the blood of death. As the moon turns red, no one will be saved. Who will avenge the Keeper of The Graves?”

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s latest single is interesting what with its ABA style presentation. The arrangement is bookended by a pair of slow, brooding, mysterious sounding movements while the band’s much more familiar heavy, power metal approach serves as the arrangement’s “B” section. That bookending, paired with the unique video presentation makes for an intriguing presentation that in all honesty, while interesting, also feels much longer than it is in the long run. It makes the song in whole one of the most unique additions to the band’s latest album.
