Mach 8 — Independent rock band Riversend kicked off the weekend with the release of its self-titled debut album and the premiere of a new single.
The band released its 7-song record Friday, and in partner debuted the record’s latest single, ‘Withering.’ The song is the record’s third single behind the band’s cover of Pantera’s ‘Revolution Is My Name‘ and its predecessor, ‘Phantom.’
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Withering’ is not a composition that audiences will find easy to take in. That is because of its melancholy, mournful mood. One can almost compare the overall presentation to certain works from Evanescence what with that mood.
That mood is in keeping with the song’s equally melancholy, existential lyrical theme, which the band addressed in a prepared statement.
“In keeping with the band’s melancholy tone, ‘Withering’ pulls at the mind’s vulnerabilities,” the statement reads. “By asking uncomfortable questions, you take a deeper look at yourself and the things around you. Everything you come to know eventually comes to an end. “Withering” is ultimately about saying goodbye to the things that you cannot change.”
The track listing for Riversend is noted below:
1. Dreaming
2. Withering
3. Revolution Is My Name
4. Moonlight
5. Phantom
