Feb. 28 — Music collective The Tibbs debuted its latest single and video this week.
The group unveiled its new single, ‘Last Train‘ Wednesday. The song is the third single from the band’s recently released album, Keep It To Yourself, which was released in January through Record Kicks. The album has also produced the singles, ‘Give Me A Reason‘ and ‘Ain’t It Funny.‘
As with most of the music featured in the group’s new record, this song’s musical arrangement throws back to the soul and &B sounds of days gone by. It is that vintage Motown style approach and sound that built the foundation of today’s urban music. The pairing of the horns with what sounds like a Hammond B-3 organ works with the subtle guitar line and funky kick from the drums to make the overall instrumentation so infectious and fun. The equally soulful vocals put the finishing touch to the presentation, making it wholly engaging and entertaining.
Speaking of vocals, vocalist Roxanne Hartog talked about the celebratory nature of the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“‘Last Train’ is “a light-hearted song about being excited to be back home after a long day,” Hartog said. “Working, living, rehearsing, all in different cities – I am no stranger to long train rides and I often write songs on the train.”
