June 4 — Category 7 offered audiences another preview of its forthcoming self-titled debut album this week.
The band — John Bush (Armored Saint, ex-Anthrax), Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob, Sonic Universe, Nocturnall), Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head, Vio-lence Kerry King), Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Overkill), Jack Gibson (Exodus) — premiered its new single, ‘Exhausted’ and the song’s video Tuesday.
The hard rock composition’s musical arrangement is very similar stylistically to its predecessor, ‘In Stitches,’ the album’s lead single. That is evidenced through the heavy guitar work and the equally powerful vocals from front man John Bush. That stylistic approach creates a sound that makes it an easy fit for any active rock radio programmer’s daily play list, just as with ‘In Stitches.’
According to comments from Bush, the song’s lyrical theme seems to center on a rather familiar matter that is rarely if ever addressed in music. However as centered on the topic fill the airwaves daily.
“Insomnia happens more frequently as I’ve aged,” Bush said. “Usually in connection with nightly visits to the loo. The frustration to just slumber and dream only makes matters worse. This is all a little exaggerated for me ‘cause people truly struggle with this, using medication or whatever remedy will hopefully solve the problem. Truth be told, my primary goal is to avoid all those deep dark thoughts in the middle of the night that seem to grow because I just can’t sleep. Zillion? Mr. Cooper.”
The video for Category 7’s new single presents the band on a sound stage in front of a green screen. The green screen features footage of a tornado-spawning storm behind the band as it performs its new single.
