Jesus Jones comes back to the USA for their second show at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI

Back in 2019 Jesus Jones came to the USA for their first time at Summerfest known as the worlds largest music festival. It was amazing to see Jesus Jones back then, and now being back for a second show was so cool! The band looked super happy to be back also, walking out onto stage with big smiles. Jesus Jones was formed back in 1988, it is great that they are still out there releasing new music and playing shows. It’s really cool also that they still have all the original members, after all these years.

The band had a great set starting out the show with “Move Mountains” their energy was contagious as the audience was really feeling the music also. I could tell that there was a lot of long time fans in the audience, by the reactions to each song. the majority of songs played were from Jesus Jones first three albums “Liquidizer”, “Doubt”, and “Perverse”. Which are such great albums from start to finish. They also played one of their newest songs recently released “Still Smiling”. Some of my favorites from the set besides all of them. Having to pick I would say were “Are You Satisfied”, “Never Enough”, “Zeroes and Ones”, “Who?, Where?, Why?” and “Info Freako”.

Being a Jesus Jones fan since the very beginning its almost a surreal feeling seeing these guys up on stage. They sound so great live, and the energy is so awesome as these guys are now 58 to early 60’s. Al Doughty (Bassist) is up there jumping back off the stage monitor many times and Iain Baker (Keyboardist) getting into the music and roaming the stage and dancing, who is very fun to watch. Mike Edwards (Vocals and Guitar) is such a great front man and vocalist. Its almost like watching them in there early days still.

Of course Jesus Jones biggest hit “Right Here, Right Now” was played and sounded awesome. I still just can’t get over how this is the only song that really went mainstream here in the USA, as it still gets lots of airplay. I always just wish that they would have really taken off in the USA and became really popular. People don’t know all the amazing songs they’re missing from these guys. They also visited the “Passages” album playing “Where Are All the Dreams?”. With so many great songs it makes me wish these guys could play for a few hours. Although with the amount of time they had for their set, they definitely chose a great lineup of songs. Jesus Jones ended their set with “Idiot Stare” which was another great high energy song to leave us with. Seeing them leave the stage made me both sad and thankful. Sad that I may never have the opportunity to see them again and so grateful to of had the chance. What great songwriters and performers, thank you for an amazing show and all the great music!
