A Killer’s Confession Announces ‘Victim 1’ Release Date; Debuts Album’s Third Single, Video

July 12 — A Killer’s Confession will tentatively release its latest album in September.

The band announced Friday through a news release, it is scheduled to release the album, Victim 1, Sept. 13 through MNRK Heavy. In anticipation of the album’s release, the band unveiled the record’s third single, ‘Filth,’ and the song’s lyric video Friday.

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a very keyboard-driven composition. Its heavy, brooding nature makes for some emotional depth to the presentation. The melodic hard rock approach overall that is taken here is similar in style to the album’s other two singles, ‘Martyr‘ and ‘Greed’ but the general stylistic approach is somewhat different from those songs’ arrangements.

As with ‘martyr’ and ‘Greed,’ ‘Filth’ is part of a larger semi-conceptual approach taken to Victim 1‘s overall body.

AKC front man Waylon Reavis talked about the album’s overall concept in a prepared statement:

“A year ago, I was like, ‘What if we have a character who is fed up with the world?,’” said Reavis. “”In his heart, he knows what’s going on isn’t right, so he does something about it. On each song, he addresses a sin — whether in himself or against some horrible person. The conversations are either in his head or with the victim. You think, ‘If I was a guy who had the ability to find these people, how would I react?’ He’s got to do this, yet it’s destroying him since he’s truly a kind spirit. He has no regrets though.”

Reavis added, “I had never thought about following a concept like this before. However, I decided to focus, live up to the name, and be A Killer’s Confession.”

A Killer’s Confession wrapped up a North American tour early this month in support of Victim 1. The tour saw the band join the likes of Mudvayne, Ill Nino and Hyro The Hero on various stops along the way.

Victim 1 will be the fourth album from A Killer’s Confession upon its release. It will be the first for MNRK Heavy, following the band signing with the label early this year. Its release follows most recently that of the band’s 2021 album, Remember. Its release was preceded by that of The Indifference of Good Men (2019) and the band’s debut album, Unbroken (2017).
