Cascade Riot Debuts New Album’s Third Single, Video

Nov. 19 — Punk outfit Cascade Riot unveiled the latest single from its new debut album this week, along with the song’s companion video.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Time Machine‘ and the song’s companion video Tuesday. The song and its video are the third from the band’s forthcoming debut album, New Disguise, which is scheduled for release Jan. 24 through independent label PNWK. The album has also produced the singles, ‘Ruby‘ and ‘Exit 55.’

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Time Machine’ is somewhat of a change of sound and style from the noted singles. It is more of an indie punk type composition than its predecessors where ‘Ruby’ is more of a pop punk type composition and ‘Exit 55’ is more along the lines of songs composed by the likes of Rancid.

Guitarist Ryan Failla talked about the creation of the song’s musical arrangement in a prepared statement.

“This one came together pretty quickly” said Failla. “I was driving to the store to pick up a few things and the melody just popped into my head along with a chunk of the lyrics. I quickly grabbed what I needed, rushed home to finish the song, and that was that.”

Failla said the song’s lyrical theme is an introspective statement of sorts, noting, “It’s all about wishing you could go back to what you remember as being a happier time. Truthfully, the past wasn’t always as good as you remember it but the idea that it was can be a nice piece of escapism.”

According to information provided about the debut of the new single and video, the song’s video was recorded at an historic estate in Detroit, MI and was filmed, edited and directed by the band’s drummer, Alex Brady with assistance from his brother and band mate, bassist Adam Brady.

Failla said of the video’s creation, ““Alex just showed us this house he came across one day with the thought it could be cool to film something there so that’s what we did. We filmed it the weekend after Halloween and the owner of the house left bowls of leftover candy out for us which we scarfed down between takes.”
