For the third consecutive year, Joe Satriani and David Bonvillain, of Bonvillain Design Studios have partnered to raise money for charity through a unique outlet.
The famed guitarist and Colorado-based artist have joined forces to auction off a one-of-a-kind guitar Apr. 14 here. The duo worked on the guitar, a new Ibanez JS2480, for more than 40 hours with the goal of auctioning it and presenting money from the auction to Pasadena, CA-based nonprofit agency Pasadena Humane.
According to information on its website, the organization works to find homes for animals looking for their “fur-ever” families in the region. According to information in a news release announcing the forthcoming auction, 100% of money raised from the auction will benefit the agency.
The guitar going up for auction features a glow-in-the-dark base, layered with white galaxy design in fluorescent acrylics. Hand-painted by Satriani, the guitar also features the head of an alien on the front.the original paperwork and certificate of authenticity personally signed by Satriani also accompany the guitar.
The upcoming auction is, as noted, the third consecutive nonprofit fundraiser held by Satriani and Bonvillain. The duo auctioned a charity piece in 2023 that raised money for the Children’s Hospital San Francisco. In 2024, another auction was held by the pair, benefitting another nonporfit, Guitars4Vets.
