Alt-rock act Whitehall will tentatively release its latest album later this year.
In support of the album, whose title, release date and other information is under consideration, the band premiered one of its songs Friday in the form of ‘Come Visit.’ The song was accompanied by a companion lyric video.
The song’s musical arrangement is a gentle, flowing work whose subdued approach leans somewhat in the direction of a shoegaze type work. The somber mood established through that arrangement works well with the song’s lyrical theme, which according to a statement from the band, “is about the perpetual longing for something that feels solid- it’s wrapped up in the feeling that the grass is always greener. It’s an isolating feeling when everyone else looks like they’ve “figured it out”. To us, this song recognizes that feeling and instead of isolating, it invites you to “come visit.”
The song’s companion video features the song’s lyrics over footage recorded from a vehicle of the passing scenery. The scenery in question involves residential neighborhoods and countrysides. All of this happens as the song plays over the visualization.
