April 26 — Bleed The Sky debuted its latest single and video this week.
The band unveiled its new single, ‘Soul Collapse‘ and the song’s companion lyric video Wednesday. The premiere of the new single and video comes two months after the release of the band’s then latest single, ‘The Parasite,’ which featured guest vocals from Chimaira front man Mark Hunter.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Soul Collapse’ is, stylistically speaking, very similar to that of its predecessor. Though the overall sound presented in the song is distinct from that song. The black/death metal guitars and vocals are just as notable, but Hunter’s guesting on the previous single clearly led the band to incorporate more of a Chimaira type lean to the song, along side its more plodding sound.
Front man Monte Barnard talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“‘Soul Collapse’ is about being at odds with what you want to do and what you have to do,” Barnard said. “The persistent voice in your head stemming from the decisions that take you away from where you want to be in life. The natural connections, bonds and comforts we develop on that path become anchors to a life we cherish, but are antithetical to what we really want, but can’t bring ourselves to sacrifice,”
The lyric video for Bleed The Sky’s new single is a simple, straight forward presentation. It features the song’s lyrics over a red background that features random images that look like they came right out of a science fiction style aiming system, for lack of better wording. The song plays over the visualization as it is presented.
