April 11 — Independent hard rock band MCHNZ (pronounced “Machines”) its new single and video last week.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Gravity‘ and its video Friday. The single’s musical arrangement is a heavy, melodic hard rock composition. The depth of emotion expressed through the arrangement is easily comparable to works of so many of the band’s more well-known counterparts. It does well to help illustrate the song’s lyrical theme.
According to front man Eric Tomes, the song’s lyrical theme focuses on the metaphorical yin and yang of finding and maintaining the positive feelings that come with relationships when those tough times in relationships comes.
“’Gravity’ is about the feeling you get when you have that special someone in your life and there are moments when you feel like gravity is pulling you together, with the way they look at you and move with you,” Tomes said. “And on the flip side, there are other moments when it feels like anti-gravity takes over and complete chaos happens, but you fight to hang on to those feelings that ultimately brought you together in the first place.”
The video for MCHNZ’s new single is a familiar style presentation. One half of the video features the band performing its new single on a sound stage. The other half of the video features the band as a group of machines making its way through a city that clearly is not entirely what it seems. The band’s new single plays over the visualization.
