June 21 — Progressive rock band Haken premiered its latest album’s fifth single this week.

The band unveiled its new single, ‘The Last Lullaby‘ Wednesday. The song is the fifth single from the band’s latest album, Fauna. The band debuted album’s then most recent single, ‘Lovebite‘ last month. Its premiere was preceded by those of three other singles, ‘Taurus,‘ ‘Nightingale‘ and ‘The Alphabet of Me‘.

‘The Last Lullaby’ is a completely instrumental composition that blends electronic influences more in the vein of more recent Nine Inch Nails works with something of a hip-hop style beat. The whole is a unique composition that is certain to appeal to a wide range of audiences.

The band discussed the song’s creation in a prepared statement.

“‘The Last Lullaby’ naturally follows on from ‘Eyes of Ebony,’ being based on the main theme from the closing track on Fauna,” the statement reads. “Our keyboardist Pete was let loose with his production skills, chopping up stems, rearranging, and adding new layers, to create a track with bit of a different feel to the rest of the album, being closer to electronica than metal – but one we feel captures the emotive quality of the record and provides a fitting epilogue.”
