July 28 — Independent hard rock band Fused By Defiance is offering audiences a musically and lyrically powerful song in its latest single.
The band debuted its new single, ‘Will Of a Warrior‘ and the song’s video Friday. The song is an intriguing offering from the band, especially for audiences who may be new to the group and its work. That is evident in the song’s arrangement. Right from the song’s outset, the pairing of the hip-hop style backing and the equally subtle power metal guitar line gives the song a unique identity.
Single-named vocalist Taj adds to the song’s interest with her guttural screams in the song’s chorus, which are right on par with those of Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz. Her rapping over the guitars meanwhile conjures thoughts of Linkin Park while her clean vocals lend themselves to comparison to those of Amy Lee (Evanescence). All of this sounds like quite the blend of elements and influences, but the band makes it all work surprisingly well, with the result being an arrangement that actually will engage and entertain audiences.
The band offered a brief explanation of the lyrical theme featured in the new single, saying, “The warrior within is the only path to survival. No one is coming to save you.”
The song’s video illustrates that message as it features Taj taking on an evil force, complete with sword and spear. in the end she overcomes the evil force through her determination as the song plays over the story.
