July 21 — Independent hard rock band Sekond Skyn offered audiences another preview of its forthcoming record, Letting Go this weekend.

The preview came in the form of the band’s new single, ‘Small‘ and the song’s companion video. The song is the record’s second single behind the recently debuted ‘My Head‘ and its video, which the band premiered early last month.

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is an engaging work. Front man Jesse Shar’s vocal delivery sound and style here is actually comparable to that of Puddle of Mudd front man Wes Scantlin. The work crafted by his band mates — Marc Monjoy (guitar), Zac Miranowic (guitar), Brian Jennings (bass) and Tommy Spano (drums) — gives the song its own unique identity. Contemplative in its verses and far angrier and fiery in its chorus, the contrast of those moods is balanced well throughout the song. The whole is a work that would be an easy fit for many active rock radio programmers’ play lists.

According to Shar, ‘Small’ “is about loneliness and being so depressed that you just feel hopeless. The demons take over and you start to spiral downward with no-one to turn to. You start to fight back to regain control but it is a long tough battle.”

That theme is very similar to that featured in ‘My Head’ just in a slightly different fashion. This is sure to engage listeners in its own way.

The song’s video is a simple presentation. It features the band performing its new single on a darkened sound stage. Video effects are used to heighten the emotion of the song’s lyrical theme and musical arrangement.
