Prong Announces New Album Details, Tour Dates; Debuts Album’s Second Single, Video

Aug. 3 — Veteran hard rock outfit Prong will tentatively release its latest album this fall.

State of Emergency is scheduled for release Oct. 6 through Napalm Records. In anticipation of the record’s release, the band premiered its latest single, ‘Non-Existence‘ and the song’s lyric video Thursday.

The song’s musical arrangement is a presentation that longtime fans of Prong will find familiar. It exhibits a comparison to sounds from the band’s 1996 album, Rude Awakening as well as from the group’s 2017 album, Zero Days. That is evidenced through the more melodic, radio friendly sound and style that forms the song’s base.

Prong founder/front man/guitarist Tommy Victor even said himself the comparison to the sounds from Rude Awakening was intentional.

“‘Non-Existence’, with its techno-style noise guitar that’s omnipresent on this album, is a bit like my retrospective glance at ‘Rude Awakening’,” Victor said. He did not offer an explanation behind the song’s lyrical theme, but it can be interpreted as being a commentary about the familiar theme of pushing on through certain negative thoughts that we get each day. That is just this critic’s interpretation.

Prong unveiled the album’s lead single, ‘Breaking Point‘ last year. State of Emergency‘s track listing is noted below:

State of Emergency Track List:
1. The Descent
2. State of Emergency
3. Breaking Point
4. Non-Existence
5. Light Turns Black
