Sept. 8 — Pop punk outfit Dead Alright is back in the headlines this week.
The band announced Friday, it is scheduled to release its new album, Dancing Through The End of Days Oct. 6 through Thousand Islands Records. Pre-orders are open. In anticipation of the record’s release, Dead Alright debuted its fifth single, ‘Locker Room Mentality‘ Friday.
The song’s premiere follows those of four other singles from the forthcoming album, ‘Strong Enough To Fail,‘ ‘Groundhog Day,‘ ‘Nights of Self-Destruction,’ and ‘Dust Falls‘.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Locker Room Mentality’ is an intense skate punk style composition. It features guest vocals from Marie Desbians (Hipshot). It is a stark change of style and sound from the previously released singles, as those songs take the band in a much more pop punk direction.
According to front man Louis-Charles Berthiamune, the song’s lyrical theme is a social commentary about gender bias in a very specific center.
“‘Locker Room Mentality’ is an angry skate punk anthem that calls out sexism in the punk scene,” Berthiamune. “Guest vocalist Marie Desbiens from Hipshot adds a powerful perspective to the track. Dead Alright’s unapologetic lyrics and raw energy make them a standout band in the genre. This song is a must-listen for fans of bands like NOFX and Pennywise who appreciate punk with a message.”
