Sept. 6 — Taproot premiered its latest single this week, along with the song’s companion lyric video.
The band premiered its new single, ‘Favourite Song’ and its companion video Wednesday. Previous news releases announced Sept. 1 was the expected date for the premiere. The song, which features a guest appearance by Nonpoint front man Elias Soriano, is featured in the band’s forthcoming album, SC\SSRS. The album is scheduled for release Sept. 29 through THC Music/Amplified Distribution.
The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is an intriguing presentation. On the one hand, front man Stephen Richards’ distinct vocal styling, which is somewhat comparable to that of Deftones front man Chino Moreno, is on full display once again here. The band’s trademark sound is also here, but at the same time, the overall arrangement also boasts a much more melodic, happy tone than what audiences have come to expect from the band. It makes for its own share of engagement.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release and no lyrics are provided with the song’s lyric video. Speaking of the lyric video, it is intriguing in its own right, as it only provides the lyrics to the song’s chorus but not its verses. From what is presented and what can be understood throughout the song, it would appear the theme is one of the power of music in dealing with our every day problems. That is just this critic’s interpretation.
‘Favourite Song’ is the third single from Taproot’s forthcoming album. Most recently, the band premiered the single, ‘No One Else To Blame.’ Prior to its debut the band also released the album’s lead single, ‘VIP — V\C\T\M PLAY.’ The song is available to stream and download now.
