Sept. 22 — The Dollyrots continued its push promoting its forthcoming album, Night Owl, as the weekend opened.
The band debuted its latest single, ‘When We’re Sober‘ and the song’s companion video Friday. The song and its video are the third from Night Owl behind ‘Hey Girl,’ which the band premiered earlier this month, and the album’s lead single/title track, which dropped in August.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘When We’re Sober’ is another easily accessible, catchy and infectious pop punk composition. At the same time it still manages to hold its own identity separate from the other singles, offering a little more emotional depth than its predecessors.
Vocalist/bassist Kelly Ogden discussed the song’s lyrical theme in a news release announcing the premiere of the new single and video.
“As a band who writes songs about knowing how to party, we can honestly say we’re pretty good at it,” Ogden said. “But we also know testing limits means maybe you’re not so sure about your own. “When We’re Sober” isn’t an anti-drinking song, and it’s not a pro-drinking song. It’s more about acknowledging how easy it is to lose control of something when you aren’t aware of your own tendencies.”
Night Owl is scheduled for release Oct. 13 through Wicked Cool Records. The band is scheduled to host an album release party that night at Heaven Can Wait in New York City. Tickets are available here.
