Third Eye Blind Closes the Summer Concert Season at Hollywood Casino at PNRC, Grantville, PA – 9/16/23

Wow, it seems like just yesterday that covering the first show of the summer concert season at the Penn Heroes Stage at The Hollywood Casino PNRC in Grantville, and here I am covering Third Eye Blind and the final show of the season on September 16th. It has been 26 years since the debut of their self-titled studio album, which included monster hits “Semi-Charmed Life” and “Jumper”. Over the years, the band has developed a very devoted following. I had the opportunity to talk with some devoted fans that met online and got together to see the show. They were from California, Massachusetts, Delaware, Virginia, Texas, and of course Pennsylvania. They had flowers and a sign to celebrate lead singer, Stephan Jenkins’ upcoming birthday.
I had the opportunity to see the band twice this year. First time was in Hershey in March on their “Evening with Third Eye Blind Tour” and second was today. They were vastly different shows. Personally, I preferred the “Evening with Third Eye Blind”. The band played much longer, and my favorite part was the acoustic section. I felt that show was a more intimate, personal type of show. However, the band brought an amazing energy to the show this evening that I didn’t see in that previous show. It was evident that Stephan was having a blast performing this night. Of course, the set list included their biggest commercial hits “Jumper”, “Never Let You Go”, and “Semi-Charmed Life”. The fans had a great time, singing along throughout the night.

The sophomore year for this venue was very successful. They had a great line-up of acts covering a broad spectrum of musical genres including rock, metal, country, hip hop, and pop. If I had to choose I show as my favorite, it would the “I Want My 80s” tour with Rick Springfield and The Hooters. A close second was the homecoming of Bret Michaels and the “Parti-Gras Tour”. I saw many acts that I had either never heard or never saw before. Honestly, there was not a single show that I didn’t enjoy. Bel Biv Devoe put on an incredible show and was so much fun to shoot.
