Nov. 16 — Jazz/pop songstress Ala.Ni i set to release her latest Christmas music compilation this week.
Christmas Vol. 2 is scheduled for release Friday. In anticipation of the record’s release, Ala.Ni debuted the record’s lead single, ‘You Broke My Heart (On Christmas Eve)‘ and the song’s video last week.
The musical arrangement in Ala.Ni’s new single is everything audiences have come to expect from the singer. Her gentle singing and the equally soft musical arrangement is so engaging. What’s even more interesting is how that soft delivery plays against some of the song’s angrier lyrics. It makes for quite the interesting contrast.
Ala.Ni talked about her new EP and single in a prepared statement.
“I won’t lie. I do struggle with Christmas,” Ala.Ni said. “The over consuming part of it is what I don’t like, but the coming together of family, luxurious food and fun times always sucks me in. I try to not get caught up in the Christmas hysteria but I always end up surrendering, to some degree, in the end.”
Along with her own new work, the five-song record also features covers of Joni Mitchell’s River’ and Elvis’ timeless classic, ‘Blue Christmas.’ The EP’s track listing is noted below:
