Dec. 12 — Fans of The Allman Brothers Band will get yet another new archived live concert from the band next month.
The band announced Tuesday, it is scheduled to release Manley Field House: Syracuse University – April 7, 1972 Jan. 12 on CD and digital. The archived concert features The Allman Brothers Band in a rare “five-man-band” presentation. The performance was recorded a short time after original front man Duane Allman’s untimely passing. Allman died in October 1971, only months prior to the concert.
As a result of Allman’s passing, the band’s lineup at the time of the concert consisted of the band’s five original members: Gregg Allman on vocals and keyboards, Dickey Betts on guitar, Berry Oakley on bass, and the two-man drummer/percussionist team of Butch Trucks and Jaimoe.
The recording’s forthcoming release will be its first ever and will be an official release through the band’s own label, the Allman Brothers Band Recording Company. While the concert has been floated among fans for years as a bootleg, this release will mark the first time audiences will get the hear the concert in its entirety and as an official release from the band.
The concert’s set list was composed of 11 songs, including and not limited to: ‘Midnight Rider,’ ‘Syracuse Jam,’ and ‘Statesboro Blues.’ The recording’s full track listing is noted below:
