Slash Announces Details For New Blues Covers Collection; Debuts Record’s Lead Single

March 8 — Legendary guitarist Slash is set to release a new collection of classic blues tunes this spring.

Orgy of the Damned is scheduled for release May 17 through Gibson Records. The 12-song record features 11 covers and one original from Slash. The coversa re of works from the likes of Robert Johnson, Peter Alan Green, and Howlin’ Wolf.

That Howlin’ Wolf cover is the famed singer/guitarist’s song, ‘Killing Floor‘ and is the collection’s lead single. It features AC/DC front man Brian Johnson on vocals and Aerosmith front man Steve Tyler on harmonica as well as Slash on guitar. Drummer Michael Jerome provides a steady back beat while bassist Johnny Griparic’s low-end adds its own touch to the whole to make the song all the more enjoyable.

The group’s take on the song largely stays true to its source material, amping things up slightly. Johnson’s vocal delivery style here is so much different from what he uses in his work with AC/DC in the best way possible. The distinct controlled tone and grittiness makes his performance feel so natural.
