May 27 — Independent rock act moonstone. premiered its latest single this week.

The band unveiled its new single, ‘Figured Out,’ Monday. The song features a musical arrangement that boasts elements of pop rock and pop that in being blended, creating a unique whole that is entirely engaging and entertaining what with its major key sound.

That positive vibe exuded through the song’s musical arrangement is key because it creates a direct contrast to the song’s much heavier lyrical theme which, according to vocalist Gracie Armendariz, centers on a person’s mental health in a very distinct fashion.

“The lyrics for ‘Figured Out’ were written about being put into a role where you’re completely self-reliant, growing up hyper-independent and the defiance that comes along with it,” said Armendiaz. “When you’re emotionally hyper-independent, you feel the need to handle everything in your life on your own, including your own emotions and challenges, making it difficult to ask for help, even when you need it. I love songs that have meaningful, personal lyrics and dancy, upbeat instrumentals, and I feel that we achieved that perfectly with this song.”

The contrast of that heavy emotional theme and the more upbeat nature of the song’s musical arrangement gives the song in whole an identity that makes it stand out and well worthhearing.

In other news, Moonstone is scheduled to perform live Saturday in Dallas, TX at the city’s annual So What?! Festival. The festival also features performances from the likes of Underoath, 3OH!3, Knuckle Puck, and Boys Like Girls.
