July 30 — Myles Kennedy has given audiences another preview of his forthcoming album.
The Alter Bridge front man debuted the second single from his forthcoming third solo album, The Art of Letting Go Tuesday in the form of ‘Nothing More To Gain‘ and the song’s companion lyric video. The premiere of the new single and video came Tuesday more than a month after the unveiling of the album’s lead single, ‘Say What You Will.’
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Nothing More To Gain’ is somewhat heavier and darker than that of its predecessor, with a little bit of a Queens of the Stone Age type stoner rock leaning blended with its hard rock core. The whole is an interesting new look at Kennedy’s forthcoming album, which is currently scheduled for release Oct. 11 via Napalm Records.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the debut of the new single and its companion lyric video. The lyrics presented in the video, which itself features said wording over art from the album, hints at humans’ ability to see and feel the worst and desire to complain even with the good around them. That is just this critic’s own interpretation. He reminds listeners herein that “it’s not too late” and that “there’s nothing more to gain” in looking for that negative among the positive. Again there is that inferred message.
In other news, Kennedy and his band mates are scheduled to launch a tour in support of The Art of Letting Go Oct. 27 in Hamburg, Germany. The European leg of the tour is scheduled to run through Dec. 6 in Belfast, Ireland and includes stops in cities across Europe, such as Paris, France; Prague, Czech Republic and Tilburg, Netherlands.
Following the European run, the band will tentatively embark on a North American tour starting Jan. 17, 2025 in Joliet, IL. The U.S. tour is scheduled to run through Feb. 21 in Spokane, WA. The North American run includes stops in cities nationwide, such as Lawrence, KS; Charlotte, NC and Dallas, TX. The complete European and North American tour schedule is noted below:
