While on paper and in theory, All Time Low and I Prevail may seem like an unlikely combination, the execution is remarkably flawless.
The song “Hate This Song” is a collaboration between ATL and I Prevail, combining ATL’s lively three-chord style and melodic talent with I Prevail’s contrasting vocals and aggressive guitar riffs. It explores the theme of modern breakups, emphasizing the power of music as a universal language of love and communication. The track features a triple vocal performance, an infectious chorus, and a mosh-worthy breakdown, making it a guaranteed hit with fans of both bands.
According to Alex Gaskarth of ATL, the song “Hate This Song” has been waiting in the wings ever since their last album, Tell Me I’m Alive, was released. It presented an opportunity for the band to experiment with something playful and unique, collaborating with a highly respected band who is at the peak of their career. The members of I Prevail added their own touch to the song, giving it a weighty feel and transforming it into something pleasantly unexpected. Gaskarth envisions the two bands as two sides of a coin, dropping into a jukebox that will continuously play this song on repeat.
Some time ago, we were approached by a small group known as All Time Low, according to Eric Vanlerberghe of I Prevail. They shared a song they had written and requested for us to add some flavor to it. We gladly accepted the task and got to work. It brings us great joy to finally release this track and be the pioneers of incorporating a blast beat into an ATL song.
All Time Low’s success story began as a group of friends in high school in Baltimore and has now gained worldwide recognition, showcasing their undeniable talent, unwavering dedication, and strong connection with their fan base. They have established their own niche in popular culture, humbly but surely. Their music has consistently landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, with five consecutive albums, and has earned them multiple multi-platinum, platinum, and gold certifications. In recognition of their impact, _Rolling Stone ranked their album So Wrong, It’s Right LP as one of the 50 Greatest Pop-Punk Albums, coming in at #20, alongside legendary bands such as Bad Religion, Green Day, and The Descendants. Their hit single “Monsters (ft. blackbear)” dominated the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart for an unprecedented 18 weeks, making it the longest-charting song in Modern Rock history.
